Hello Writer Friends!
Today, it's all about creating a special space that you love to write in.
If you want to make sure that getting your BITCHOK Groove (Butt In The Chair Hands On Keyboard) into high gear is super-easy, then create a wonderful space in which you love to sit down and crank out pages.
I've always been a gal who loved to wine and dine and pamper her muses. In fact, I wrote a bestselling book about that very thing called Muse Therapy: Unleashing Your Inner Sybil (What Writers Need to Reign Over Their Creative Kingdoms).
One thing that's always worked for me is to surround myself with images and objects that make my spirits dance like nobody's watching. I enjoy beautiful crystals and stones, glass sculptures, seashells, murtis (I love Ganesha, Hanuman, Lakshmi and Saraswati), images of paths and open gates, candles, incense and oil diffusers, plants and flowers and, of course, my Bitchy Sign Collection. In addition, I love to write with a great view and lots of sunshine, so I set up my office in the brightest room of the house with a fantastic view of our palm trees and lake.
Here are a few pics:

All of these wonderful things make my soul so happy and ready to share that happiness with the world through every new page I create. I simply love being in this space and am so grateful that it inspires me.
I also love to write in coffee shops and tea houses, so sometimes I make those my mobile offices.
Here's a fabulous tip: Make your special space an area of your house (some writers I know even make a closet into their office) that you go to just to write. That way, it feels like you're "going to work" in that special space, leaving the rest of your world out of the way for awhile. This is also a wonderful way to continue to keep your creative energy thriving in this space and not having to find it amidst all of the other energies of your life (for example, even fantastically positive energies - such as the strong family energy of your family room can be distracting).
What about you? What does your writing space look like? How does it make you feel when you're writing there? Let me know in the comment section below and feel free to link to pics.
And remember, there are no right or wrongs here. All that matters is that you and your muses love spending time in your special space and that because it is your special space, you can produce new pages there every time you sit down.
