When I began my writing-for-publication journey almost twenty years ago, I’d have given anything to have a website and a series of books and classes that showed me exactly what to do, what not to do and what to expect from the beginning of the process all the way through till I was holding my book in my hands. And, I’d have given anything to have a teacher who was filled with confidence, optimism and a loving-kind grace and patience to help me navigate the process and make my dreams come true. A sense of humor would have been a fantastic bonus.

I’m honored to be the kind of teacher that I was looking for, and in October 2016, I published the how-to book that I longed for - THE ABC's OF WRITING AND PUBLISHING A BOOK.

The voice inside my heart, the one that every time I’ve listened to has led me to exactly what I need to be doing to fulfill my life purpose, whispered to me many times that I had to create this site, my online and live classes and write the "textbook" to go with them. I wanted you, and all aspiring authors, to have the opportunity to experience a love and laughter-filled writing-for-publication journey.

This type of joy-filled journey wasn’t available prior to what I call the Golden Age of Publishing, the age we’re in now when you can write the book of your dreams, publish it yourself in both ebook and print formats and have a shot at hitting bestseller lists around the globe.

You no longer have to play the absurd waiting game of querying the agents and editors who make up traditional publishing’s gatekeeper system to see if they’re interested in your book. You no longer have to worry about receiving countless rejection slips in your mailbox or inbox after being denied, yet again, by these gatekeepers. You no longer have to worry about re-writing your book countless times to please the personal tastes of said gatekeepers. You no longer have to worry about being pigeon-holed into one genre when you want to write all kinds of books. You no longer have to worry about only being allowed to publish one or two books per year because that’s all of the slots available in a particular publishing house’s catalog. You no longer have to worry about your book only being on a shelf for a certain amount of time, and that’s provided your book even makes it to a shelf. And you no longer have to wait to be paid just twice per year, after an agent takes his or her cut.

I could go on and on with this list of dreadful experiences that used to be a mandatory part of every prospective author's journey. But I won’t because, thankfully, they’re no longer part of today’s writing-for-publication journey. The journey I’m taking you on is a sharp contrast to the harsh, competitive traditional publishing world. In the Golden Age of Publishing, the journey is a positive, love, light and joy-filled trip. No killjoys allowed.

The journey that you’re about to take is made up of paths that you’ve chosen to take, at your own pace, without the approval needed of anyone other than yourself. It’s just a fabulous time to be a writer! And it’s never been easier to connect with readers.
