How To Meditate: Breath is Your Bridge

One of the questions I'm most often asked is "How do you meditate?"
There are as many answers as there are spiritual beings. And the reason for that is the fact that each of us is unique, and how we connect and reconnect with our Non-Physical Self (our Soul/Spirit/Universal Consciousness/God) is a matter of whatever way works best for us.
That said...there is one very powerful technique that of all of the methods I use I return to again and again, and it's the one I always begin each meditation session with. And that's using breath as my bridge to Spirit.
In other words...
Breath is Your Bridge

It's really that simple...
Breath is Your Bridge
So, when you're ready to meditate, all you have to do is focus on the rise and fall (the inhale and exhale) of your breath as it enters and exits your body.
Yes. It's wonderful to have a beautiful, serene place either inside your home or a particular place out in nature that you adore. Yes. It's wonderful to experience a place where silence welcomes you or perhaps nature's music greets you with the songs of birds or the waves of the ocean. Yes, it's wonderful to be in a studio built for the sacred peace of meditation.
But...it's not necessary to have any of those wonderful things. All you need to do is honor the air/the energy moving in and out of your body with each and every breath that you take.
I'm not even a huge fan of pranayama breathing techniques (the holding of your breath for certain counts or the changing up of your breath to increase or decrease your energy flow), although I enjoy mixing it up a bit and trying these ancient practices.
The one thing that allows me to center, to find the peace of going within and reconnecting with my Non-Physical, All-Knowing Self, is to focus on my breath, allowing the rhythm that's natural to me.
I take each breath in and each breath out and revel in the sounds made and the energy exchanged between my soul and all souls throughout the Universe. I treasure the Life Force we're each given in order to experience our Physical Beings. I'm filled with gratitude that I have another beautiful day in which to create all that I want to create.
Just Breathe...that's all you have to do to begin your meditation journey. Breathe...
Let go of everything else (it will all be waiting for you when you're done with your session). Let your thoughts move through you as if they're passing clouds. Let love, light and joy filter through your body with each magical molecule of air.
Go ahead. Try it...
Breath is Your Bridge to Spirit/God. Breath is Your Bridge to Your Soul.
